Brown Turban SnailBrown Turban Snail

(Tegula brunnea)

by Andrea

Brown turban snails eat algae. They are often found in the mid tide zone and mostly found with black turban snails. They can easily be removed from where they are. They are usually on rocks exposed to air or under water. It moves slowly, very slowly. The picture shows the brown turban snail with a black turban snail shell (occupied by a hermit crab), coralline algae and a tidepool sculpin (a small fish).
