Tidepool Field Trip Parent Letter

Field Trip News

Dear Parent or Guardian,

In Science with Ms. Fairchild and Mr. Cody, we are now studying the Ocean and the animals and plants that live there, and we are planning a day-long field trip to an excellent tide pool location on the coast near Half Moon Bay.

This will be a working trip, not a day on the beach. Students who have good citizenship and who are doing their homework and classwork will be allowed to attend. Those students who are not eligible for the trip will stay behind with a substitute.

We will be walking on slippery rocks, looking at all kinds of animals that live in the tide pools. We are likely to see star fish, hermit crabs, sea urchins and many other animals. Students should dress warmly and wear clothes they can get wet.

Bring:

  • Notebook and pencil
  • A good lunch

Do not bring:

  • Walkman
  • Yo-yos
  • Toys

Please sign the permission slips we are sending. We need adult chaperones as well. If you are able to come with us, please indicate below.

Field Trip Date: Friday, March 26 (the day before Spring Break)

Destination: Fitzgerald Marine Reserve, Half Moon Bay

Transport: Charter bus

Departure time: 8:30 am

Return time: 3:30 pm
