The reason it is green is because they share a relationship with green algae. The giant green anemone gets it's color from green algae that lives in it's tissues. Objects like rocks, sand, and shell fragments stick to it. The anemone eats smaller creatures
that go through it's path, and it uses it's tenticles to catch
it's When I went to Half Moon Bay, I
saw a giant green anemone that was with other anemones. It had
a lot of rocks on it. I did not catch it, but I did feel it.
It felt sticky and soft. It behaves weird; it closes when you
touch it. The animals that lived around it were little fish,
shell creatures and crabs. |
